Developing Incentives and Tools for Downtown Development
  • Working with El paso Electric to create "Energizing Business Incentives Program"
  • Working to get UNM Design and Planning Assitance Center's recently completed "Guiding Principles for Downtown Design adopted for use by the City
  • Working with New Mexico Main Street to secure consultant Scott Day on contract to develop downtown design guidelines in FY09
  • Teaming up with local bankers and the city to format low interest loan program for downtown
  • Proposing downtown building maintenance guidelines
Bringing Technical Assitance to Downtown Property Owners
  • Organizing consulting visit from Donovan Rypkema - on site consultations with downtown property owners, meetings with city council and city staff. Bringing downtown real estate and revitalization information to the community
Arts, Culture & Entertainment District Development
  • Preparing for next round of State designated Arts & Culture District selections
  • Beginning collaboration with the City and the arts community to develop Main Street Arts, Culture and Entertainment District downtown
Designing Downtown
  • Participating in design of new Civic Plaza (ZOCOLO) space downtown
  • Coordinating Design Charrette for La Placita on Organ Avenue
  • Working with the City to implement DPAC's Guiding Principles for Downtown Design
  • Developing Downtown Design Guidelines with the City and NM Main Street
  • Capital Campaign Development to assist funding for Civic Plaza (ZOCOLO)
Marketing & Promotions Downtown
  • Creating an Arts, Culture & Entertainment brochure for Downtown
  • Completing the new downtown business directory
  • Creating museum size banner installations promoting downtown
  • Developing a signature event for LCDT to be held downtown
  • Developing an indoor facility for incubation/acceleration of small businesses as an attraction for downtown
  • Creating a comprehensive year-round advertising program for downtown businesses
  • Completing the new website for LCDT
  • Completing new logo development for LCDT
Growing the Las Cruces Downtown Organization
  • Engaging and involving the community in the leadership of Las Cruces Downtown. Creating a more inclusive organization.
    • Increasing inclusivity and diversity within the Las Cruces Downtown Board of Director
    • Amending By-Laws to give general members the right to vote in elections for Board of Director
    • Outreach to neighborhood organizations to offer nominees for consideration for board members positions with LCD
    • Attending neightborhood meetings
  • Developing our Strategic Plan
  • Increasing staffing to improve capacity to deliver services
  • Obtaining new office space to increase workspace, improve functionality
  • New 3-year Memorandum of Understanding with City of Las Cruces
  • Developing Board Member and Officer job descriptions
  • Setting criteria for board membership, self-evaluations for board members and nominations committee interviews for prospective board candidates
  • Developing fundraising mechanisms to enhance long term financial visability of the organization
